ODISHA Odisha is one of the 29 States of India located in Western India, it is surrounded by the state of west Bengal to north east, jharkhand to the North, chhattisgarh to the West and north-west and andhra Pradesh to the South. It is the 9th largest state by area, and the 11th largest by the population. The state also has the third largest population of Schedule Tribes in india. The area of odisha is about 1,55,707 square kilometers. Odisha is connected with the world largest bay i.e. Bay of bangal. Bhubaneswar is the capital of odisha. and the capital of odisha bhubaneswar is the 1st smart City in India. It hold the rank 1. There are 30 districts in the state. The High Court is situated in cuttack, odisha. Odia is the official and most widely spoken language in odisha.It hold the 25th rank in the Human Development Index rank. The literacy rate is 73.45%. The hirakud dam is built across the mahanadi river.about 15 kilometers from the sambalpur District in the state odisha in India. Behind the dam extends a lake, called hirakud reservoir,55 kilometer long

THE HISTORY BEHIND THE CONSTRUCTION OF HIRAKUD DAM

The dam was started to build in the year 1948. Pandit jawaharlal nehru laid the first batch of concrete on 12th april 1948

In 1952,mazumdar committee was appointed by the government to oversee the soundness and technical feasibility of the project.The committee has envisaged costs of rs92.80 crore for the project and that the construction of the main dam would be complete by June 1955. It also said that by 1954-55 a total of 1,347,000 acres (545,000 ha) would be irrigated and that 48 GW of electric power would be generated. However the dam was completed in 1953 and was formally inaugurated by prime minister jawaharlal nehru on 13 January 1957. The total cost of the project was RS 1000.2 million ( e(to rs75 billion or US$1.1 billion in 2018) in 1957. Power generation along with agricultural irrigation started in 1956, achieving full potential in 1966


    Now after getting the brief description about the history of this dam. We can move toward  some other things about this artificial miracle located in West odisha,India

         Like it is one of the most beautiful and famous tourist destination where everyday more than thausand of people come to visit this place. The water is used to generate power which helps the State meet the electricity power requirements partially. There's a minnar situated in this place and a beautiful park which attract the people and increase the tourism

KHINDA  (a brief introduction) SO hey guys today I am going to introduce a village located in sambalpur district of odisha in india.my village khinda where I live This village is located in rengali tehsil in sambalpur district in odisha State, India it is located 33 km toward north from district headquarter sambalpur. Khinda's local language is oriya . Almost everyone in this village are odias and speak odia but they are knowns to many languages. This village has a huge amounts of non-renewable resources which is called coal. We villagers also called it black diamond. Yes it is diamond for us because it provides income opportunities to all the unemployed peoples in this village.
